How Important Is Your Portfolio?

A portfolio can be an excellent sales tool, however I successfully ran my business for many years without any sort of online portfolio, or even a real online presence for my business. Most small businesses that I have dealt with do business with me based on our interaction and how I made them feel comfortable with the prospect of working with me.

In my opinion, securing leads and moving them through the proposal phase is reliant on the comfort level of a buyer. How often have you paid more money for a product or service just because you "liked" the more expensive option better? If you are able to master the ability of making people feel comfortable and even enticing them to want to experience your service, your previous work and even your pricing models become secondary.
